Two New Silk Appointments for Maitland Chambers

We are delighted to announce that Andrew Westwood and Thomas Munby will be appointed as Queen's Counsel on 21 March following the appointment ceremony by the Lord Chancellor. Her Majesty The Queen has approved the appointment of 101 barristers and solicitors as new Queen’s Counsel (QC) in England and Wales. The title of QC is awarded to those who have demonstrated particular skill and expertise in the conduct of advocacy.

Andrew is experienced in a broad range of chancery and commercial matters, with a particular emphasis on insolvency & restructuring, company, partnerships & LLPs, civil fraud & asset recovery, commercial disputes, offshore, charities and private client. He has extensive experience of conducting litigation and has appeared in the full range of domestic courts, in specialist tribunals and in offshore jurisdictions.

Andrew has consistently been recommended in the legal directories and has been described in Legal 500 as “quite simply one of the brightest juniors at the Bar” and by Chambers UK Bar Guide as having “an evident talent for cross-examination”. To view Andrew's full profile, please click here.

Thomas is a commercial litigation and arbitration lawyer, with a strong Chancery background. But he also enjoys a long-standing practice in more traditional Chancery areas, including trusts, estates, insolvency and real property.

Thomas is recommended in the directories as a leading junior for Commercial Litigation, Commercial Chancery, Civil Fraud and Company Law work. He has been described as “absolutely fantastic, great to deal with and seriously clever”, “outrageously clever and always calm”, “an exceptional junior” and “doughty and determined in court”; someone who “handles the most complex matters with ease and confidence”.
